I thought I'd start seriously kicking off this blog with some factoids about myself.
1. Kittens
They're fuzzy.
2. Final Fantasy XI World of Warcraft
WoW is pretty much the 800lb gorilla of MMORPGs today and not without reason. I was a huge fan of FFXI from it's release up until recently. However, the game recently lost its appeal to me after several major deflations in the economy caused by a company ignoring the problem of Real Money Trade for years until just recently. The effort required for even a modest gain in PvE performance is insane.
On the other hand, WoW gives its players a much more fulfilling sense of control over the environment and their characters. Also, my wife and arch-nemesis play WoW with me.
3. Tokyo, Japan
I've been fascinated with Japan as far back as I can remember. I've even tried for a time to learn the language with mixed success. Having traveled to Tokyo this past March, I can honestly say that it is my favorite place in the world. There's something about being in the biggest metro area on earth and still being able to sleep with the windows open that's fascinating. It's as serene and orderly as it is frantic and confusing.
My favorite places in or around Tokyo include: Nikko, Shimokitazawa, Akihabara and Asakusa.
4. Final Fantasy Series
I'm a big fan of RPGs in general, but Final Fantasy holds a special place in my heart. Along with Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy 1 was my first foray into the genre. The recent whoring of the FF moniker by Square Enix leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but the games in the series proper are always good.
5. Travel
I love to travel. Seeing new places and getting away from my day-to-day "comfort zone" is one of life's pleasures for me. I want to do more world traveling in the future.
6. Dr. Pepper
I drink too much of it, but my favorite soda is Dr. Pepper.
7. Gadgets
I admit: I'm a gadget hound. If it does something interesting and can fit in my pocket I usually want it.
8. Vintage Computers
Many people don't see the usefulness of old computers such as Classic Macintoshes and Amigas, but I love fooling around with old hardware that I never got a chance to play with back in their heyday.
9. Peach Rings
I really love peach rings.
10. Food
By food I don't necessarily mean the act of eating. Rather, I love trying new foods and finding new recipes. My three favorite cuisines would have to be Tex-Mex, Chinese and Indian.
